Theories
Discuss theories.
SUCH AS THIS NEW ONE I'VE JUST READ:
Peter's been killed by a shapeshifter.
I don't want to believe it. I barely believe it. But a tiny part of me is panicking anyway...

Not possible!
He's too normal with Olivia and in tune with their situation.
Don't worry, he's just gone insane.

Re: Theories
IF HE'D BEEN KILLED BY A SHAPESHIFTER HIS BLOOD WOULD BE MOSTLY MERCURY IN IT AND HE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO WORK THE MACHINE, RIGHT? O.o
I don't think he has, anyway. I think his attitude was a mix of being "weaponized", and (as I flailed when Nina mentioned it) he's been through too much and had no one to talk to. It's probably built up into shit loads of anger and made him darker, but being weaponized has just made him not give a fuck.

Re: Theories
I'm not sure where to put this.
But. I am so overly sensitive or something at the moment, but I feel like we have been given SO MANY HINTS in very recent episodes towards a sick Peter storyline.
Case in point:
Entrada's dragged out needle scene and the worried Walter scene - I loved it, but it was a very long scene in a very fast-paced episode, that really did nothing to advance the plot.
Peter's death theme running all through Firefly - and the omnious ending by the Observers, and the creepy, creepy set up of that final scene with him and Walter paralleling the one where young Peter dies in bed. Plus the rosemary soup.
Now, even in Reciprocity, I am going nuts. a. the nosebleed. b. Peter's very dark under-eye shadows at the end of the episode in the final scene. Walter's comment about how Peter is not sleeping. The damn, dragged out MRI (I mean, was that scene REALLY a necessity? Could it not have just been mentioned later on as opposed to a very extended scene dedicated to it?), and the general concern that's surrounding him. Plus the violence also seems like a second callback to "What Lies Below".
And then there's this:
Wow I am paranoid. But ... SURELY all this can't be a coincidence? I mean, really?

Re: Theories
OMG MONIQUE. That's frikkin' amazing *______*
...I think you're right. There's no way that can be a coincidence xD I had to stare for a while to even register what epicness I was seeing :') Any theories on his elevated heart rate? Surely if that goes on for a long time, it could have serious effects, too?
I liked the MRI scene :') I liked Peter trying not to appear nervous and Walter being protective. Plus we got Olivia touching Peter's hand <3

Re: Theories
Oh my God that's amazing. Please let the Fringe writers be as smart as you xD
I hope the s3 finale is Peter just being rushed to hospital because the disease has just hit him hard rather than the machine. We have seasons and seasons for him to use the machine. Hopefully.
I hope Walter's wrong. Peter's not being weaponized, the disease is affecting his mind. But then the writers have never really made Walter wrong.

Re: Theories
NO! I think the idea of him being weaponized is hot and awesome! He's becoming dark and 'mechanical' in the way he can disconnect himself and his emotions from what he does.
I need a scene where Peter's being rushed around on a gurney, covered in blood (I don't mind whose), with an oxygen mask on and groaning in pain xD

Re: Theories
I think he might have been like this before he met Olivia. I still think that scene in Johari is... weird. How killing someone for the first time is hard. I don't think that was the first time he's killed (excluding that time he didn't save that guy from suicide bombing).
PLEASE CAN PETER GET SHOT?

Re: Theories
AWESOME, I MIGHT SHARE MY FIND WITH OTHERS.
You are correct - chronic tach can lead to bad things happening to the heart, as the organ has to pump too hard and it weakens it. Not a positive sign. Interesting though that all the other tests they did on him seemed fine. Of course, I don't think the disease has come back yet. I think we're getting foreshadowing.
Mm, what about the machine is the kickstart to the disease? This thing that Peter got was extremely, extremely rare, wasn't it? Could it actually be connected with Peter's ability to use the machine?
Lol, um, I honestly though he and Olivia were having a bit of (intentional, on Peter's part) miscommunication going on in that scene. No part of me would believe he hadn't killed before that, and that has now been elevated to a fact since I saw his handywork in this episode. Possibly, he was angsting over the reminder of the man he used to be? And that, at the time, it was a bad memory of things he didn't want to return to.

I was expecting something to crop up on the other tests too. I was craving a scene where Peter found out bad news and didn't know how to tell Walter.monnie44 wrote:You are correct - chronic tach can lead to bad things happening to the heart, as the organ has to pump too hard and it weakens it. Re: Theories
We know he was definitely in a bad place before he met Olivia and I think if he'd been ordered to kill someone in order to keep up a con or to keep alive himself he will have done it. I think he's done some shit in his past. He's open about his childhood, and up to his mother's death, but we know nothing about who he was between her death and the Pilot.
I'm also getting a fic idea right now xD
I think he could be pretty damn heartless if he wanted to be. I don't know if the machine is weaponizing him or if it's just making someone he used to be resurface.

Re: Theories
If it was something like, Peter had to kill someone so that a mob boss believed his cover story and he didn't execute him on the spot, I could definitely see Peter doing it. And if there was like a masisve group of mafia guys hunting Peter down, I could 100% see him snapping necks, taking guns and burning buildings down on top of them.
TELL US OF THIS FIC IDEA. *____________*
I hope it's the machine weaponizing him and his past resurfacing. I'm in love with the idea that the machine's fucking with his head and he's losing his identity to it. It could make his old self come back, just with less inhibitions and slightly more twisted.

Re: Theories
I think he could've been an awful person at one point. I think maybe he and Big Eddie were pretty close and he did all of his dirty work for him and then Peter just turned on him or vice versa.
It was just gonna be Peter on one of his "gotta go kill someone" missions from Big Eddie only it's like a family 0_0
I just hope somehow somewhere along the line his past does resurface. He intrigues me so much, I just want to know what he's done. I want to see him really twisted. You know how he cut off that guys fingers? Next is one by one, working his way up >: D

Re: Theories
So wait, though... isn't the timeline:
1 - Peter comes home in the middle of the night with his seahorse bag.
2 - They go look at the weapon, nosebleeding ensues
3 - Someone finds the body
Peter was just being badass regular Peter and it had nothing to do with the machine.
I really like the thought of him being capable of much more than we give him credit for. Surely his days of inter-continental shenanigans involved more than just learning how to tap into a phone line. That dude in Iraq hated him.
I hope we see more of this.

Re: Theories
I think Walter meant when Peter touched it Over There. Maybe his happiness with Altlivia was keeping him from being weaponized and now he's lost her he's got no reason to be happy anymore so he can focus on shooting up some hoes.
The dude in Iraq hated him cause Peter kinda brought about the death of his brother iirc 0_0

Re: Theories
Dani, it scares me how we think alike xD I always thought it would be Eddie wanting him to kill a kid, so Peter protects the kid, Eddie finds out later and pretty much forces Peter out of Boston.
I want to hear a twisted, dark, hysterical laugh. I want him to completely lose his shit.

If they won't actually bring him back with a story, they could do hallucinations? Or Peter-flashbacks? They'd still be kinda cool *_________*

I just want to know why they won't bring him back with a story. They practically dedicated half an episode to him, and now nothing.

Oooooh a dark hysterical laugh. Like Peter's got a shapeshifter on the floor and Olivia's like "Peter, he's willing to help us, just let him go," and he laughs and stabs him.
I just want Big Eddie back to add more shit to Petah's life.

Re: Theories
Remember when that DICK Michael told some evil guy that Peter was back? I shat myself. I thought for sure we'd have some of that story soon afterwrds :'(
Ooooh I saw it as some guy threatening to kill Peter, and Peter just lets out some hysterical laugh like "You think I care if you kill me? Geez, you'd be saving two universes, do it." And Walter, Olivia and Broyles are horrified at his attitude towards his life *_______*

Maybe the guy on the other end went "Who's Peter?" "That dude who lied about our boss being after him." "Aww bless him, he's still trying to pick up girls with that line?" "Yeah, and guys too now." "He is not." "He so is." "No way!" "I know, right?" "Shut up!!" "I KNOW, RIGHT?!"
And then they start bitching about the receptionist.
OOOH LARISSA. I LOVE IT. I WANT THAT SCENE ALMOST AS MUCH AS I WANT CONPORN.

OH HOW GLORIOUS IT WOULD BE TO HAVE HOMICIDAL AND SUICIDAL PETER *________*
Re: Theories
AND HAVE HIM TOO INSANE TO EVEN REALIZE THAT OLIVIA AND HIS FATHER IS THERE. OH GOD I WANT HIS MIND GONE COMPLETELY. I'M GETTING FRIGHTENINGLY ADDICTED TO INSANE PETER SCENARIOS.
