I've been reading whump for years and while I wouldn't want to drown, it's one of my favourite whump methods xD
And just blinking the water out of his eyes and having no fucking clue where he is <3

I really need to stay current on these threads, because I have no idea how we got on the topic of what it feels like to drown.

Now that you mention it ... there IS, isn't there? But also dramatic! Coughing and choking until he stops bringing up water and starts bringing up vomit and he can't breathe and Olivia's telling him he has to calm down because it's not going to stop until he can get his coughing under control ...
Not as easily said as done, as my choking on a glass of water a few nights ago reminded me (haa ... literally almost spat a huge mouthful all across myself because the first gulp went down the wrong pipe *headdesk*).

If the water's cold he could be shivering and gasping and scared. He could have lost some of his memory, just to be even cuter.

You could use some writing exercises to kickstart your muse and get you going? I've just finished a six week long writing course that introduced me to these and they are a brilliant aid at kicking a muse up the ass. IDK I mean you really have done almost all the work except writing the fucking words down. You feel so accomplished too, once you finish writing a fic!
